Simple, beautiful tips to feel like you in your photos.
You booked the session. You set the date.
And now the stress creeps in: What do we wear?!
First — deep breath. You’re not alone in that question. Styling your family doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. The goal isn’t perfection — it’s presence. And I’m here to help you show up feeling confident, comfortable, and true to who you are.
1. Choose a Color Palette — Not Matching Outfits
Instead of dressing everyone in the same shirt and jeans, try picking 2–3 colors that work well together. Think warm neutrals, soft earth tones, or classic rich shades. Then, build outfits around that palette using pieces with different textures, patterns, and layers.
Why it works: It keeps your family visually connected without losing anyone’s personality. It also allows for more natural, timeless photos.
2. Let Personality Shine
Your session should feel like you. So if your daughter loves dresses that twirl — bring one. If your son feels confident in suspenders or a favorite pair of boots — perfect. There’s beauty in the variety, and the best photos come when everyone feels like themselves.
3. Keep Comfort in Mind
You don’t need to buy an entirely new wardrobe for your session. Stick to what fits well, feels good, and lets you move freely. If your little one needs to run or you’re picking up your baby every other minute, your clothes should move with you — not against you.
4. Avoid Loud Logos or Neon Colors
Big graphics and bright neons can pull focus and date your photos. Instead, lean into solids, subtle prints, or soft florals. Think timeless over trendy — your future self will thank you.
5. Layers & Textures Add Visual Interest
Sweaters, denim jackets, flowy skirts, linen rompers — layers and different fabrics bring dimension and warmth to your images. Just avoid anything too stiff or restrictive.
6. Prep in Advance & Trust the Process
Lay everything out a few days before. Try outfits on if you’re unsure. Snap a quick mirror photo of everyone in their look. And if you’re still stressed — send me a pic! I’m more than happy to help.
From My Heart to Yours
I know it can feel like a lot to coordinate outfits, wrangle kids, and show up in front of a camera. I’ve been there too. But more than anything, I want you to know that your presence is enough. Your story is already beautiful because of the people in it — not the clothes they wear.
Jesus calls us to show up as we are — fully known, fully loved. My prayer is that you feel that during your session. That you feel seen, valued, and so celebrated.
Let’s create something timeless together.
